Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra has launched an incredible counter attack on the football establishment this week, by suing FIFA and the Belgian FA for €6m after he was prevented from joining Charleroi in February 2015.

Diarra has been told to pay Lokomotiv Moscow €10m after a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for failing to fulfil contractual obligations.

The player’s Belgian lawyers, Jean-Louis Dupont and Martin Hissel have begun this procedure against FIFA & the Belgian FA after they claim that when Diarra was technically unemployed in February 2015 when an approach came from Charleroi.

The Belgian side at the time produced a letter of intent to sign the player but ultimately made the decision in July 2015 not to do so, because they did not want to be held hostage by the fine that Diarra might have been set to be forced to pay to Lokomotiv, as the judgement had not come down yet at that time.

Diarra is suing because he feels like between February 2015 and July 2015, he was prevented by the Belgian outfit from playing football. In his opinion, the Belgian FA and FIFA took too long to carry out their responsibilities.

Diarra is certainly pulling no punches as he attempts escape the self-imposed quagmire of his footballing career in the last 2 years.
