Aston Villa’s interim manager Kevin McDonald confirmed in a press conference that Remi Garde remains the frontrunner for the vacant coaching position.

“Remi Garde was a good footballer. He has a good CV as a coach, and clearly my hierarchy thinks that he is the man for the job.”

The Telegraph claimed yesterday that Remi Garde and Aston Villa were growing increasingly confident about bringing in two of the former OL boss’s assistants Baticle and Genesio from Lyon.

However, sources at Lyon claim that this is completely off the table. More undoubtedly to follow in the coming days.
