St Étienne edge ahead of Rennes in the race for Andy Delort
French striker Andy Delort is seeking to leave Tigres and Mexico this month, having moved there in the summer but he has failed to receive any considerable playing time.
It appeared as if the player had settled on Rennes as his future destination, but in recent days fellow Ligue 1 side St Étienne have thrown themselves in the mix, and are now edging Christian Gourcuff’s men for the player at the time of writing, according to L’Équipe.
The biggest problem in this situation is Delort’s current club, Tigres, who are not being very helpful in terms of facilitating negotiations. Both St Étienne and Rennes could only complete a deal if it was a loan with an option to buy, and the player’s agent Jean Christophe Cano is flying to Mexico today to try to force Tigres’ hand into entering into talks with these Ligue 1 clubs.
Delort’s future is surely away from Mexico…
