The Waterfront Area Getting New Rogue BBQ Bar-Restaurant
HOMESTEAD, PA — An era in the Pittsburgh bar and restaurant scene ended last September. Blue Dust, a staple on Amity Street across the railroad tracks from The Waterfront, ended a nearly 15-year run when owner Jerry Miller decided to retire.
Less than a year later, Blue Dust’s successor is preparing to open. The neon signs are up advertising the impending arrival of Rogue BBQ, which plans to open in the next few weeks.
“This is very exciting,” Zach Steiner, who co-owns Rogue with his wife, Amanda, told Patch.. “We’ve generated and nurtured a good following over the years. This is the next big step we’re taking.”

If the Rogue name sounds familiar to some, there’s a reason. Rogue is a well-established catering company run by the Steiners operates out of the Westwood Golf Club in West Mifflin and also
operates a food truck and sells its food at the nearby Kennywood amusement park.

The catering company expanded into the mobile market in 2014 with a lone smoker and added smokers over the next two years to keep up with demand. Rogue added a porch trailer in 2017 and the food truck debuted in 2018.
Steiner said the menu for the space will be similar to the offerings sold at the food truck: smoked wings, brisket nachos, brisket sliders, pulled pork tacos, smoked ribs and barbecue samplers. Rogue also will offer a Sunday
The interior of the bar has been extensively renovated and a new tap system has been installed. Steiner said 20 draft beers will be available and promises a “healthy mix” of craft offerings.
Like Blue Dust used to do, Rogue plans to hold occasional events under the Homestead Grays Bridge.
Steiner said he can’t wait to get Rogue up and running.
“It’s a great location with a great operating history,” he said. “We are looking forward to being an asset to Homestead.”
